Another fun Thursday night! Glad you are back, Greg!

We got lots of good practice with Right Hand and Left Hand Stars. There were even a couple of squares that got through the last singing call to end up with their original partner. Congratulations!!!

One of the keys to successful dancing is to finish one call before you start the next one. This is especially important in singing calls. During singing calls it is often necessary for callers to do what is called “stacking the calls.” We say one or two calls close together rather than saying one and giving you time to almost finish that one before giving the next command. When the calls are stacked you have to do the first command to completion and then remember and do the second command.

First Friday Fun Fest hosted by the Whirlybirds with Dave Harry, caller. The hall is The Hayloft, 15320 35th Ave W, Lynnwood. Cost is $7/person.

Thursday, December 28: No class tonight! See you at the New Year’s Eve Dance!

Sunday, December 31, 9:00 p.m. – 12:30 a.m., New Year’s Eve Student Level Dance hosted by the Whirlybirds and Samena Squares with Dave Harry and Susan Morris, calling. This dance will be at the Juanita Community Club. Tickets are available now for $15 per person. The format will be like the First Friday Fun Fests, squares alternating with line or circle dances. Make plans to dance in the New Year!

17. Do Paso: Turn partner by the left arm (let go) and corner by the right arm, (let go), COURTESY TURN partner to end at home or promenade. Can end in any other formation with a left arm turn like ALLEMANDE THAR. DO PASO – from start to finish of COURTESY TURN 12 steps.

36. Trade Family:
36 a. Trades: Boys, Girls, Ends, Centers: Directed dancers change places with the identified person. The person you are trading with may be next to you or somewhere in your line. Every TRADE includes a reversal of facing direction. If you meet someone pass right shoulders. BOYS, GIRLS, ENDS, CENTERS – 4 steps;

36 b. Couples: Directed couples change places with the other couple. You may be facing opposite directions or you may be facing the same direction. Every TRADE includes a reversal of facing direction. COUPLES – 6 steps.

38 a. Alamo Ring: A circle of 8 dancers forming an OCEAN WAVE. Dancers have alternating facing directions (in, out, in, out, etc.) ALAMO RING – this is a formation.

39 a. Swing Thru: Those that can, TRADE BY THE RIGHT, then those that can, TRADE BY THE LEFT. SWING THRU – 6 steps.
