Samena Squares Newsletter #7

Dear Friends,

Happy Tuesday! I’m getting back in the swing of things after a weekend away square dancing. Larry and I went to Woodburn, OR for a square dance weekend that started Friday night and finished up Sunday morning. It was tons of fun dancing and seeing friends from all over the Northwest. We are looking forward to the next one!

Did any of you go to the First Friday Fun Fest at the Hayloft? How was it? Let me know.

We learned some calls, Square Thru and Separate Around, Thursday night that necessitate listening to the next words. No assumptions allowed. When a caller calls Square Thru, there may or may not be a number after it. An example is Square Thru Three. It can easily be Two or Four or Five or One or Ten (if the caller needs a break). If
NO number is given, it is always Four. That is the default.

The Separate Around call can be Around One or Two or Three or whatever the caller wants. It can also be around some number of people and Into The Middle. We will dance them all to get some practice.

Thank you to Susanne for calling a tip Thursday night. Good job!

Susanne will continue to call a tip each week as our class progresses.

Don’t forget to turn on your headlights when it gets dark! Enjoy the sun while it lasts!

Happy dancing,
Susan
