Cascade Crossfires Newsletter #3

Dear Friends,

It has been a full week of dancing starting with last Monday! Six squares for our Plus class! There were 4 squares for Mainstream class at Samenas on Thursday night. I had fun calling for the Boots & Laces Friday night. There was more dancing Saturday night with Tom Clymer at the Happy Hoppers. I hope you got out to one of the many other dances or your club dance.

Last week we had Plus books available. If you did not get one, please let Bill Freyfogle know and we will make arrangements to get some more.

This coming Saturday is the first of our big club dances, the Halloween Spooktacular. This dance will be for full program Plus dancers. Those of you who are just learning will need to wait until the next big dance in December. We’ll start talking about that next week after this one is over.

However, we do have a dance for those of you who joined us to learn Plus this fall. Next Monday, October 30, is our Workshop Extravaganza, a dance by any other name. The Extravaganza starts at 7:00 (not 7:30 p.m.). It ends the usual time at 9:00 p.m. I will not teach anything new. It’s an opportunity to get more floor time with the calls that we have learned up to this point so they become a bit more automatic.

I have invited the new Plus dancers from the other two classes in the area. Hopefully, some of them will take advantage of the opportunity for some more floor time and join us.

Enjoy the bits of sunshine! See you Monday!

Happy dancing,

Week #3
9. Spin Chain The Gears: Starting formation - Parallel Ocean Waves.

Each End and the adjacent Center dancer turn one-half (180º). The new Centers of each ocean wave turn three-quarters (270º) to form a new ocean wave across the set, as the other four dancers do a U Turn Back (turning in
toward the center). The Centers of the new wave Trade and then release hands with each other. Four dancers on each side of the square now form a four-hand star and turn the star three-quarters, forming a new wave across the set. Centers of this wave Trade momentarily reforming the wave across the set. The two outside pairs of dancers of the center wave now turn three-quarters (270º) as the other four dancers turn back (turning away from the center).

25. Cut The Diamond: Starting Formation - Any Diamond.

The Centers of the diamond do a Diamond Circulate to the next position in their diamond, while the Points slide together and Trade. Ends in a line or wave.
